I don't know how to create my online resume. What do I do?

If you're stuck, and you aren't sure of how to create an online resume using our service, here are some pointers that will help you.

First of all, we don't have a place for you to upload your resume. Instead, try clicking on My Resume on the home page and filling out each single step - education, work experience, keywords, tools and technologies and skills.

In your General Overview, try adding what type of worker you are as well as the type of job you’re looking for – this helps employers know the type of person you are and if you are a fit for what they’re looking for.

Education and Work Experience Items are best added separately. For example:

Education one: Manhattan College.
Education two: New York City University

Work Experience one: 2001-2002 Coca Cola, Sales Representative
Work Experience two: 2002-2004 Pepsi, Administrator.

There are places under each Work Experience item for you to paste in a summary of your roles and responsibilities at that job, which you can copy straight from your resume and paste in. Most people put a description of their duties at that job, what responsibilities they had (if they managed any staff, for example) and what accomplishments they’ve had at the end if there is enough space. Try not to put in what computer systems you’ve used – you can add those to the Tools and Technologies section.

It is probably a good idea to leave the Keywords until last, so that you can use the "Build my keyword list" tool, which works best when you have all the information in your resume already.
