Your Professional Overview is a summary statement that describes your experience and qualities to employers. It is one of the first things an employer or recruiting agent reads when they review your anonymous résumé, so it’s your opportunity to sell yourself! Think about what it is that employers or recruiting agents will be most interested to read about you.

You can complete your Professional Overview in the General Information section of your résumé. Do not include any personal identifying information such as your name, address or phone numbers, or the names of any other people.

Some Professional Overview examples:

• Broad experience base over 10 years in the financial and investment sectors, including derivatives, mutual fund accounting and audit. A well-respected leader and team player.
• A senior enrolled nurse with 20 years of skills and experience, interested in applying my learnings in a new sector. Professional, happy to work shift hours, full drivers license.
• Senior, award-winning print journalist seeking writing, media liaison or television role.
• A new business (Honors degree) graduate interested in a trainee role within a large financial institution. I am reliable, well presented and motivated to particularly interested in building a career around internal audit.
